My name is Johnny Harris. I am an alumnus of Brigham Young University where I studied International Relations, French and Spanish. In addition to being trained to think like an economist and a diplomat, I am also able to think like an artist; to share important messages through creativity. Working as a videographer, photographer, graphic designer and motion graphics artist over the past 5 years has allowed me to complement my interest in international affairs with skills that allow me to craft media for many different governmental and non-governmental organizations. Keep scrolling to see what this looks like.
I am a quick and creative designer. I thrive in both collaborative and solitary workflow environments but much prefer working with a team where I can generate innovative ideas and turn them into art. My style draws heavily on simple lines and beautiful type. I find inspiration in architecture as well as natural forms. I love design.
Sharing a message through film may be my strongest skill. Having worked in both freelance and in house production setting, for a variety of clients, my video skills are broad and versatile. I shoot mainly on HDSLR rigs and edit with Apple FCP and Adobe video software. My style is unique, compelling and flexible to many different environments
If you haven’t jumped on the motion graphics band wagon, you would be smart to soon. Motion graphics offer a catchy and productive way to share a message and communicate information in a concise and attractive manner. I craft 2d motion graphics that utilize kinetic typography as well as organic animation to build a powerful narrative through visuals.
I offer a professional and creative approach to photography. I’ve worked primarily as a freelance photographer, shooting weddings and portraits. I also have experience with merchandise and advertisement photography. I own my own photo gear and have extensive experience traveling with professional equipment as well as studio lighting workflows.
Okay, I’ll be honest, I am not a code master. However, I know enough HTML and CSS to get around. More importantly, I know how to work and manage the back end of WordPress and Blogger platforms. This allows me to leverage templates and themes to make attractive web content. Coupled with my other skills, this web knowledge allows me to effectively disseminate media onto a variety of platforms. With my quasi-coder skills, I built the site you’re looking at right now.
I would be selling myself short if I didn’t mention that I hold a degree from Brigham Young University in International Relations (with credentials in French and Spanish). This degree gave me important analytical and writing skills that help me both in a creative and professional environment. Along with my understanding of and interest in international affairs, I have critical thinking and problem solving skills that are the result of intensive training in calculus and econometric analysis. These skills are pertinent to any professional work place and are an unique complement to my creative media arts skill set.
